Status quo international surrogacy and private international law in the Netherlands
In September 2023, the IJI has published on conflictoflaws.net a blog on international surrogacy and private international law in the Netherlands. There are various important legal developments in this field, such as the recently proposed bill of July 4, 2023 to regulate (international) surrogacy. This bill has various important private international law implications. Another important development is a case of a Dutch district court, ruling that court decisions from the US could be recognized in the Netherlands, with an extensive assessment of the public policy exception and the question of whether there was a diligent surrogacy trajectory.
